The Copyright Royalty Board has ruled to increase the payouts that songwriters receive from streaming services by almost 50% over a five year period.
They also removed all caps on writers rates and determined that streaming services must pay a fee if they do not pay songwriters on time.
“We are thrilled the CRB raised rates for songwriters by 43.8% – the biggest rate increase granted in CRB history,” NMPA president and CEO David Israelite said.
