Canadian deep and tech house selector Darem Aissa returns to his own Suleiman Records next month for the release of his latest ‘Dream’ EP.
The release includes two original productions from Darem – alongside remix work from Cesare vs Disorder, Tadeo Catzin, and Jerome.c Tenzion.
He also handles this month’s Five Tracks feature, where he highlights music from Pawas & Daso, Dilo, Session Victim, Dachshund, and Lake People.
Dilo – Aftermath
Label: Einmaleins Musik
“Aftermath is a perfect set opener and smooth listen off the dance floor. It has a mysterious dubby vibe with elements that take up good space while maintaining a quiet, overall aura. This is not a new track, but it remains one of the most influential pieces to me, which certainly expanded my horizons of electronic music and its vast potentials of incorporating different soundscapes.”
Pawas & Daso – Det
Label: Spectral Sound
“Det is a versatile & pensive, yet light track which could always be played across a variety of settings. It’s worked in supper lounges, martini bars, and dancefloor driven clubs. This track captures a gentle, jazzy feel with a definite ability to hypnotise an audience. Again, it’s far from new but it’s one that’s shaped my outlook of electronic music profoundly.”
Lee Burton – Breath (Lake People Remix)
Label: Klik
“Lake People’s remix of ‘Breath’ has left an imprint since I came across it. I’m a big fan of both Lee Burton and Lake People. I’ve seen this track do wonders on the dance floor while keeping a relatively slow tempo. The track is both mesmerizing and trance inducing with an ability to move a crowd.”
Dachshund- Liquid Chords
Label: Clapper
“Liquid Chords is a beautiful sonic soundscape. It has all the right rhythmic elements to play out on the dancefloor, yet it maintains a soft approach for winding down as well. The pads wash over the track beautifully and the vocoder-esque main hook creates an alluring blend of melodic, stripped back deep tech that’s had a meaningful impact.”
Session Victim – Large Processor
Label: Permanent Vacation
“Large Processor is a great example of how genres can overlap. For one, it brings together pleasant samples, melodies, atmosphere, and is up beat. The track is stripped back house but its groove has always reminded me a lot of how tech house tracks work. This brilliant marriage between the elements, different genres, and overall musicality have always pushed the conventional boundaries for me.”
