British DJ, producer, and remixer Made By Pete has brought his deep and melodic club sound to established labels such as Flying Circus, The Soundgarden, and Crosstown Rebels in the past.
His latest release brings his return to the latter mentioned imprint, as his new four-track ‘Fires’ EP delivers original music from himself, and remix work from Bushwacka, Victor Calderone, and Mykol.
The London-based artist joins us this week for our latest on Five Tracks, where he displays a diverse sonic range from names like Squire, Matador, and Floyd Lavine. Read the full list, including words from Made By Pete himself, below.
Squire – Find Me On Fire
Label: trueColors
“I’ve had this track in my arsenal for a couple of years and I love to play it. The vocals have so much vibe and the atmosphere really twists around the groove. The beats never really stop so it builds momentum and just keeps rising.”
Andre Lodemann ft. Nathalie Claude – Still Searching
Label: Siamese
“This record is great for when you really want to slow the pace down. During longer sets, getting the chance to mould the dancefloor and bringing the crowd down (in the right way) is just as important as how you bring them up.”
Made By Pete – Matriarch
Label: Flying Circus
“This was a B-side to an EP I released in 2022. I love the way the lead line moves and twists. There are also lots of pitched delay lines running through it. I made it using my Moog Matriarch which is how it got it’s name. It’s not my best selling track by any means but it’s one of my personal favourites.”
Blindsmyth – Remember The Days (Floyd Lavine Remix)
Label: Connaisseur Recordings
“I love this remix from Floyd, and Simon’s vocal is soooo good! After playing this record all the time I reached out to Simon (Blindsmyth) and we’ve made a new track together, which will be released this summer.”
Matador – Korrado
Label: Minus
“This was released back in 2011 but still does the business for me. The lead line is so trippy. It rolls on for ages and I just get lost in it. Sometimes I’ll mix in an acapella if it feels right too.”
