Dutch artist Rooléh has made a pretty big statement with past releases coming via record labels like Moxy Muzik and Cecille, and he continues to be one of the most exciting prospects for his countries club scene.
Taking the reigns for this month’s edition of Five Tracks, the Amsterdam-based DJ & producer shares some of his favourite club tracks, including titles from Johnny D, Demi Riquisimo, and 2000 And One. Get the full list below!
Namby Pamby – Bang (Fi Fa Fo)
Label: Extreme Records
“Fi Fa Fo Fo… play this track to any crowd and you’ll have a guaranteed reaction when the bassline comes in. I’ve been playing this track in every peak time set for over the past six months and it just works so well. The track contains classic 909 drums, a punchy kick, and a hard-hitting bassline topped with energetic vocal chops and organ sounds.”
Noi Doi – Deeper Underground
Label: Love Letters From Oslo
“Another peak time slammer from Noi Doi. The original track is at 120 bpm, but when you play it at 130 bpm without pitch correction, that’s when the track really comes to life. What makes this track so nice to play out is that the low end is always present with a kick throughout the entire track. Leaving lots of room for the DJ to decide when to let the bass kick in.”
2020 Soundsystem – Sliding Away (Johnny D Vocal Mix)
Label: 20/20 Vision Records
“I could easily make this top five list with just Johnny D tracks. I’m a big fan of his work and this track is just another example of how good his productions are. Most of his tracks don’t have a vocal in it, but this one does which is why it stands out a bit more compared to his other work. What I like about his productions is that even though the tracks are very long, there’s always new stuff coming in and out the track organically, keeping the listener interested until the end.”
Demi Riquísimo – All I Need
Label: Semi Delicious
“A proper dancefloor killer from Demi Riquísimo called ‘All I Need’, which is the same line the vocal keeps screaming throughout this track. Anytime I play this out in a club and the synth line comes in, you can just feel the atmosphere changing. A funky bassline layered with 909 drums and a bongo loop makes this track suitable for any gig.”
Chelonis R. Jones & Marc Romboy – Helen Cornell (2000 And One Dub)
Label: Systematic Recordings
“My last but definitely not least track of this list is a remix of ‘Helen Cornell’ by 2000 And One. Anytime I’ve been playing a few high energy tracks in my sets I’ll play this track to slow the energy down a bit so I can build from there again. The repetitive synth line with a spooky vocal is what makes this track stand out to me. It keeps people on their feet and curious for what’s to come.”
