There’s so much that can be said about this record and about Paul Woolford’s emergence as true master of the dark arts of electronic music. It’s hard to think of another figure who is so whole heartedly embraced by seemingly disparate fanbases, from jungle and drum ‘n’ bass to house and techno. It takes a supremely skilful tactician to pull off such deft moves, moves that could see him drop a Paul Woolford house set at Basics in his hometown in Leeds and then command the 4-6am slot at Fabric with his Special Request cap on, all in the space of a few hours.
In many ways, it’s this ‘Belief System’ where you have two systems mutually supporting each other, that can co-exist within a single career, that lies at the core of this record. This record is set to dominate those ‘Best of 2017’ lists heading your way as 2017 draws to a close.
