Crewcutz talk new single 'Peekaboo' for Solid Grooves Records

Brazilian duo Crewcutz have previously ignited dancefloors with productions that have come via record label such as Revival New York, and MUSE.

Most recently the pair debuted on one of tech house and minimal’s biggest imprints – Solid Grooves Records – releasing their newest single ‘Peekaboo’.

We spoke to the pair about the new release, how they approach working with record labels, and what else they might have coming soon…

Your latest single ‘Peekaboo’ recently dropped on Solid Grooves Records – talk us through how the track came together in the studio?

‘Peekaboo’ came together as a result of many years polishing our sound and experimenting grooves in the studio. At the time that we did this tune we were focusing on the minimal side of Crewcutz and trying to get a heavy and catchy sound, designed for the dancefloor.

As soon as we listened to the vocals and the bassline working together we saw some good potential, so we finished it and sent it to PAWSA and Bibi, since we felt that the track fit the aesthetic of Solid Grooves.

The track has been getting major support from top house music DJs, that must feel great to see such a positive response?

For sure! Seeing the legends playing our tunes is something that really gives some gas to keep it going and producing everyday. For us, it’s a sign that we are on the right path.

You’ve also signed music to imprints such as Revival New York, MUSE, and Deeperfect in the past, what advice would you give to other aspiring artists aiming for these kind of labels?

Yeah this changes a lot from producer to producer. For example you can listen to all tracks of a specific label and try to make something that fits that aesthetic and signature, but it’s also very cool to make tunes out of any box, not thinking of any labels. This can then result in a unique sound that may catch the attention of great labels.

Nowadays we do both, sometimes we try to get a sound for some important label, and sometimes we just make what we are feeling in the moment.

And where else will we see Crewcutz release in the near future?

Our next release is a single called ‘Beat Division’ and is set to drop on March 28th via Shout! Label. We also have a collab EP with a big artist coming out in June. We’re really happy with this one, because he’s always been a friend and a reference for us!

Is there anything else you want to mention before we go?

We just wanna thank everyone that has been giving support to our project and our tunes, we really live this and seeing things starting to work is fantastic and inspiring. Also we wanna thank you guys from Inflyte for giving this space and visibility for us, we appreciate that.
