Five Tracks: Wigbert

The latest musical force to join us for our monthly Five Tracks series comes in the form of German producer Wigbert, who in the past has released his tracks on a few of our favourite labels, such as SCI+TEC, MOOD, and Curiosity Music.

January of this year also saw him release his debut artist album on Second State, which now gets its very own remix EP, courtesy of Matrixxman, Jeroen Search, Mørbeck, Anthony Linell and label owners Pan-Pot.

Among Wigbert’s picks for us, you’ll find a techno-leaning collection of club cuts, with an impressive stream of artists and labels like Stenny, Temudo, Klockworks and Axis Records mentioned.

Get the full list below, including words from Wigbert himself.

Ma Haiping – Landing Mission
Label: Axis Records

I’ve been a fan of Jeff Mills and his Axis Records imprint since I started to play music. This track by Mai Haiping catches the vibe of the label very well and I love the atonal sounds in the breakdown. The track also has a kind of experimental style which I like.

Temudo – Ashamed
Label: Klockworks

I love the rhythmic percussion. It has a really nice groove and I also like the drone which builds up more and more. This makes the track very hypnotic.

Steve O’Sullivan – Berdea
Label: Trip Recordings

It’s classic, hypnotic and minimal techno! That is what I enjoy and why it’s one of my current favorites. I like to play kind of tool tracks in my sets and this one fits perfect for me.

Stenny – Corrupt 506
Label: Ilian Tape

Breakbeat tracks keep my sets interesting and this one has a very kind of classic techno and house vibe with powerful distorted drums. Which creates a very outstanding mood when in a straight forward techno set in my opinion.

Evigt Mörker – Enande Måne
Label: Northern Electronics

Since I listened to this track for the first time, I fell in love with that melody and the choir sounds. I immediately got into a trance mood, this track is timeless for me.
