Two of the underground’s most respected selectors join forces for this In The Basement guest mix — Heidi Lawden and Lovefingers, who will also share the decks live at Akasha, Ibiza on Friday 9th October as part of the Inflyte, Freebooter Lounge and Plan B four-day weekender. Their parallel careers have quietly shaped the tastes of a generation of DJs and dancers on both sides of the Atlantic.
L.A.-based Heidi Lawden has been embedded in dance music since her teens in London’s early rave scene, going on to play Panorama Bar, Hï Ibiza, Glastonbury, Public Records, and Horsemeat Disco, with a range that moves fluidly from House and Techno to synth-laden Disco oddities. Lovefingers aka Andrew Hogge, founder of the revered ESP Institute — is the quiet tastemaker’s tastemaker, whose track-per-day archive at lovefingers.org expanded the ears of a generation and whose releases have found their way into the bags of everyone from DJ Harvey and Laurent Garnier to Dixon and the late Andrew Weatherall.
Together they weave through William Orbit & Apiento, K-Lone’s remix of Nina’s “Air To Throne,” Lovefingers’ own L.O.V.E. Dub of Pulp’s “Got To Have Love,” and Richard Sen’s remix of Joshua Idehen’s “This Is The Place” in a b2b that feels both effortless and completely unplanned.
