Inflyte Radar: Mene

One of the most exciting names to emerge from the Serbian club scene in recent years arrives in the form of Belgrade-born house producer Mene.

The now Ibiza-based talent has previously seen his music release with some of the most beloved imprints in deep and tech house, with Moan, CUFF, and elrow all pushing his sound.

His latest offering finds him making his debut with Clarisse Records, for the release of his brand new, all original 2-tracker, Spin Me Around.

We welcome him to this months edition of our Inflyte Radar, where we chat about the new EP release, the upcoming launch of his own record label, which labels he would love to work with in the future, and more. Get the full discussion with Mene below.

You’re on our Inflyte Radar this month, where we highlight the next generation of top shelf producers in club music, what have you been up to recently?

Thank you for the invitation. A lot has been going on in recent months. I’ve changed my residence to Ibiza and have been getting used to a new life here, and really working hard on my production. I’m also preparing for the launch of my new label Tozla.

You recently released your new Spin Me Around EP with Clarisse Records, talk us through the two originals included on this one?

The funny thing is, last year I went with some friends to a funfair and remembered a special moment from memory. As a teenager I got the high score in a shooting game there and won a boomerang. After that I went on a rollercoaster, and it started to spin me around. From this moment on I knew this needs to be a bomb EP. True story. That’s why I used a strong low end, groovy percussion, and crazy funky vocals for it.

The release has seen support from names like Roger Sanchez, Jamie Jones, and The Martinez Brothers, it must be a great feeling to have such renowned DJs pushing your stuff?

Yes of course. I have a lot of respect for the big names in our industry, and I always feel honoured to release music they will play. In addition to that, it makes me feel blessed when my music makes people dance and feel happy – and the big names fill the biggest dancefloors.

In the past you’ve released your tracks on labels such as elrow, CUFF, Material, and Moan, which other imprints might we see you on in the near future?

There is lots coming soon but the one I am most proud of in the near future is the launch of my own label called Tozla. Also, after the success of my Edit Compilation Golden Rims which was played by big names like Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice, and Amine Edge. I will release Golden Rims Part 2, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for both of those!

And is there a label you hope to work with at some point in your career?

Yes! Cuttin’ Headz, Hot Creations, Solid Grooves, Boogeyman, and Desolat.

You’re from Belgrade, how are you finding your local club scene now that the pandemic is beginning to settle?

It’s definitely getting back to normal life finally. Especially as Belgrade is one of the cities in Europe that is very famous for its club scene. But I actually just moved to Ibiza and here it is also getting back to normal. You can see me play with Darius Syrossian, Luca Donzelli, Proudly People, and ACA on 19th of March at Eden Club.

And who is one emerging Belgrade-based talent that you think we should be checking out?

There are a lot of young producers from Serbia who are talented: Un Padre, Coeus, Andrew Meller, Ilija Djokovic, and Shimammo.

Mene – Spin Me Around EP is out now on Clarisse Records.
