UK techno has an exciting new prospect on its hands as emerging Cheltenham-based DJ & producer Redemption adds another impressive EP to his collection.
Following outings for IAMT and Apex Records, his latest brings a new two-tracker titled ‘Mutation’ – which is scheduled to come out on Throne Room Records in mid-June.
We spoke to him about the new release, what else he might have coming in the near future, and what he’s most excited about for summer 2024. Read the full interview with Redemption below.
How has 2024 been for you so far?
2024 has been one of the best years of my life, I took the plunge to really go in hard and went full time. The artists I’ve met along the way and the support from the fan base I’ve started building has been so humbling, and I’m only warming up.
You’re about to debut on Throne Room Records for your new ‘Mutation’ EP – how would you describe the two original tracks included on this one?
Dark, pulsating, and hypnotic! I’m super proud of ‘Belligerent’, the sounds I’ve used are totally different to what’s already out there and it really tears up the dancefloor, if you listen closely you may recognise the vocals from Terminator 2.
And will we see any remixes of the tracks down the line?
I have nothing planned yet but we have had some discussions with Horatio who’s a big fan and supporter of the track, we may even be working closely soon but I’ll keep that quiet for now.
Previously you’ve signed music to IAMT and Apex Records, what tempts you into sending demos to a particular label?
I follow the music, not the hype. I have some dream labels like Filth On Acid and Kraftek. IAMT is an amazing label, they have their A&R process down to a T and it makes it really enjoyable to release with labels that are stress free and value you. On that note you will see a second release soon with IAMT. Effectively if I find myself playing a lot of the labels music, I’ll approach them if I feel my vibe fits.
And which other labels might we see you on in the near future?
Well I won’t say too much right now, but I’m working on collaboration with Javex from Codex, and today we agreed we would really love to pitch something to Joyhauser’s label as we’re both massive fans! That said I’d like to keep my toes dipped in the hard techno world too, perhaps DSR Digital, HEKATE, and definitely Influence Records again, as my release with them was my biggest track so far.
What’s something you’re really excited about for this summer?
I’m going on my first tour which I’m totally stoked about, I’ll be making my German and French debut then making my way through other parts of Europe.
Anything else you want to mention before we go?
Just a massive shout out to all the supporters so far, along with all the artists that have spun my music around the globe.
Redemption – Mutation EP is out June 14th on Throne Room Records.
