Andy Van and Cassie Van have grown an enormous audience as Super Disco Club, surrounding their modern-era disco-house productions and music review videos on platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
We spoke to the pair to ask about their forthcoming releases, which shows they’re most excited about playing throughout the summer months, and how they decide which tracks to feature in their latest videos.
How are things in the life of Super Disco Club right now?
We are doing fantastic, we’ve been doing a lot of gigs around Australia, and just recently travelled to Madrid & Portugal. Which is where I’m answering this interview from.
Your last release came out in April on your Vicious imprint – when can we expect more music from you?
Yes, we have a bunch of new Super Disco Club demos we are road testing at our gigs. Some exciting French disco styled releases I gotta say.
And how about Vicious? What’s coming on there in the near future?
We signed a bunch of hot new artists in the last year, look out for killer releases from NuGroove, Coney Island Rhythm Band, Rubber People, Hooky NZ, and of course Sgt Slick has an absolute bomb that he’s dropping in September.
You post a ton of video content to IG and TikTok – how do you choose which track or theme to base your next video around?
Good question, in the background of our Instagram & TikTok videos you’ll see a lot of classic vinyl, I generally go through that every week to find some great classic gems. And we also now have a lot of labels approaching us to review their new releases, which we go with quite a lot.
Which clubs or festivals are you looking forward to playing this summer?
We have a lot of bookings coming up for our Australian Summer in December & January, so look out for some exciting events.
What’s the latest bit of gear you added to your studio? And how have you been using it?
I don’t really have a lot of new gear, but I do love new effects plugins, especially filters, there’s a killer new one from Polyverse – called Filterverse.
Anything else you want to mention before we go?
Yeah we’re shortly launching a whole bunch of how to French house videos on our Super Disco Club YouTube channel, and we’re also starting a Patreon mid July, with heaps of exciting French house & production assets for young producers, so I think that will be super exciting.
