Let's Talk: Luca Agnelli

Italian techno stalwart Luca Agnelli continues his strong run of form as a producer with a brand new remix for Lorenzo Raganzini & Paolo Ferrara’s ‘Firestarter’.

The track comes via the pairs own HEX Recordings and adds to Agnelli’s existing catalogue of releases on labels like ARTCORE, No Mercy, Verknipt, and his own Etruria Beat.

We got to ask him about his typical approach to remixing, what else he might have coming in the near future, and more.

Let’s Talk about 2025, what’s on the agenda for Luca Agnelli this year?

This year starts with this remix of ‘Firestarter’ for Paolo Ferrera and Lorenzo Raganzini, for their label HEX. This will be followed by a new track on Oguz’s 808 Studios label, which will include tracks from a selection of artists, not forgetting some nice new releases on my own label Etruria Beat.

I also have another special collaboration track with one of the most influential rappers from Italy, Salmo. This comes after a remix I did for him for his track ‘Brujeria’ and Noyz Narcos in 2024.

I’m also working on a brand new All Night Long event series, which will have shows all around the world, and some of my tracks will appear on the soundtrack for Italian Sky TV series ‘Blocco 181’.

You’re about to kick February off with a new remix for Lorenzo Raganzini & Paolo Ferrara, how did you approach this one when you first got into the studio?

I’m a fan of The Prodigy and I grew up with their music, so when I heard this track for the first time along with the vocal of ‘Firestarter’ I was really excited. Since the beginning I knew what I wanted to do, amplify the power of the voice and add elements that would make it even more striking, emphasizing its energy and impact on the dancefloor.

And what are some of the main differences for you between producing a remix and producing an original track?

For a remix you have to follow some key elements that represent the track but you also have the opportunity to customise in your own way the music of other artists, to give a track a new life, a new look, a new energy through your touch. With an original track, naturally you are free to do what you want from the beginning. So remixes can be more challenging.

Which other record labels could we expect to see you on in the near future?

I’m very focused on releasing on my label Etruria Beat to help its growth, and to express myself to the fullest. I will still do releases on other labels such as this one on HEX Recordings or 808 Studios, but I feel it’s really important to always grow and nurture your own brand in anyway you can.

And how about your own Etruria Beat imprint, who do you have releasing on there?

Etruria has always reflected what I like to play, and because of that its sound is in continuous evolution. Over the course of our 15 years history, we have released hundreds of artists, emerging and established, giving young talents a home where they can express themselves.

We released some massive names including Ben Sims, Truncate, DJ Rush, Radio Slave, 2000 and One, and many emerging artists before they were recognized by the music scene as they are now, including Nico Moreno, Amelie Lens, Fantasm, Alignment, Oguz, Azyr etc. In mid-February we will release the next VA. titled ‘Bud Sampler 13’ with the newcomers on the label.

Is there anything else you want to plug before we finish up?

GASSE!
