Markus Homm has spent the past decade and a half building a solid and reputable catalogue of music which has seen him release on labels like Kenja Records, Hive Audio, and Poker Flat Recordings.
The German producer now debuts on Swiss imprint klaus:elle, where he delivers the inaugural offering from the label, which arrives in the form of his new 4-track Restart EP.
We caught up with Markus to chat about the new release, his thoughts on the included remixes from Garance and Juli Lee, what he looks for in a potential label partnership, and more. Get the full discussion below.
Hey Markus, we hope you’re doing well at the moment, tell our readers what you have been up to recently?
Hello guys, I am very well thank you. I have been working on my album the last few months. It’s almost done and ready to be released in September 2022.
You just released your new Restart EP on klaus:elle, what’s the story behind the tracks on this one?
Klaus in Zurich is one of my favourite clubs where I frequently play at and the crew asked me if I would like to be part of the new label, there was no second thought. I am very happy to be part of a great circle working with great artists and people.
It includes remix work from both Garance and Juli Lee, what are your thoughts on those two edits?
It’s great to have female support here. I like both remixes a lot and I believe the EP has great variety, I personally like a lot.
You’ve released tracks on Kenja Records, Poker Flat Recordings, and Deeperfect Records in the past, what do you typically look for in a label when considering them for a release?
Usually I am looking to build a relationship for the long term. Sometimes you don’t know how it will play out. But I try to follow up releases instead of spreading things out too much.
And which labels might we expect to see you on soon?
I have a bunch of material ready but I need to finalise the releases. The album has put a lot of things on hold. But it will be the usual labels I am working with, and potentially something new.
Do you have a favourite label, besides any you have released with?
A label I discovered during the pandemic is Berg Audio, I bought their entire catalogue on discogs. And I will also have a release on there very soon.
And what is your go-to guilty pleasure outside of club music?
I love my motorbike. Any spare time I get I like to ride it, I have purchased three bikes in the past month. It’s hard to explain sometimes why I need three of them though!
