In the ever-evolving world of electronic music, few artists manage to consistently push boundaries while staying true to their original vision. Argentine artist Shall Ocin is one of those few.
Known for his ability to combine experimental elements with traditional club rhythms, the Clash Lion co-founder has become a go-to source for high quality club sounds across Europe and beyond.
In our latest Let’s Talk feature, we asked the now Barcelona-based selector about his latest studio offering ‘Take Control’, what else we might see coming on Clash Lion in the near future, and how 2024 has went for him so far. Read the full interview below.
How has 2024 been for Shall Ocin so far?
I focused on exploring and expanding my creative abilities and finding a sound that reflects my passion for music and my influences. I made a lot of new music, worked on more personal productions and some collaborations. But in the end, the biggest accomplishment was deepening my artistic identity and experimenting with ideas and styles that I’ve always wanted to try.
Have you achieved most of what you set out to do this year?
2024 has been a great year for me, it has been a journey of connecting with fans and sharing my eternal passion for electronic music. It had unforgettable performances around the world and a lot of new music that will be released between 2024 and 2025.
You just returned to Clash Lion for the release of your 2-track ‘Take Control’ EP – talk us through the two originals included here?
The title track is a fusion of techno rhythms with more experimental elements, I tried to create something that could give the listener a more immersive experience, both at home and on the dancefloor. The second track ‘Jagged’, has a deeper and more atmospheric vibe, with a nice hook and some unexpected elements.
Which other labels could we maybe see you on soon?
While I can’t reveal details for now, I’ve been in talks with several labels that align with my musical direction. There’s good stuff coming. I’m excited about potential collaborations and releases that are on the horizon.
And how about Clash Lion? What’s planned for the label in the near future?
Our mission is still the same, pushing boundaries and showcasing innovative electronic music. We have some exciting releases lined up from both emerging and established artists. Our focus remains on delivering unique sounds that resonate with our audience and contribute to the ever-evolving electronic music scene.
What are some tracks you’ve really loved in 2024?
This year has brought us some extraordinary music, it’s very difficult to choose just a few and say which ones I like the most. But I could name for example, Joy Orbison ‘Flex fm (freddit)’, Marc Romboy & Stephan Bodzin – The Alchemist (Marc Romboy Remix), and Samm & Ajna – Move – but there are many more.
And your favourite show you played this year?
Another difficult question, every show has a unique energy, all of them left me with beautiful memories, for example Mandarine Park in Buenos Aires, Brunch Festival in Barcelona, Beonix Festival in Limassol, ZAMNA in Bombay and Gurugram, Utopia in Ko Pha Ngan, Atlas Arena in Łódź, etc. and the year is not over, there are still shows like The Drumsheds in London that will surely be an outstanding experience.
Anything else you want to add before we go?
I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported my journey this year. Your energy and passion fuel my creativity. I’m looking forward to sharing more music and experiences with you all. Stay tuned for what’s next, and thank you for being a part of this incredible journey.
