Liverpool born, now San Francisco based, Michael Devin has brought the sound of his Mr. Tea moniker to labels like Crossfrontier Audio, Engrave LTD and the infamous Berlin imprint Bar 25. Now he makes a return to Connaisseur Recordings following his Asking For A Friend EP back in May of this year.
His quick reunion with the label will see him release his latest Make Yourself At Home LP, a nine track album which includes all original work and no features. Sonically it consists of everything from electro, techno and house and brings a ton of nostalgic undertones throughout. At points the production might remind one of the much appreciated work of artists like The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers.
Connaisseur Recordings said: “Last year, he sent us a demo and it was one of the best we had received in a long time. After we contacted him, it turned out that Mr. Tea had been quite busy, sitting on a huge pile of unreleased music.” They added: “We worked ourselves through his playlists, only to realize after a while, that releasing an EP or even a single can never display Mr. Tea’s diverse style. This is why we have decided to present this talent on a bigger format, an album, this album.”
Mr. Tea – Make Yourself At Home LP is out now on Connaisseur Recordings. Stream ‘Shear Velvet’ from the album below.
