German DJ, producer, remixer, and label owner Boys Noize has become a bit of a cult icon for European clubbers over the past decade. Similar to artists such as Soul Wax, Gesaffelstein, and Tiga, the Hamburg-born Boys Noize has been responsible for a wealth of robust, heavily-computerised, and highly energetic electro anthems. His use of creative distortion, extremely dialled in filter work, and quirky vocals, has made his sound one of the most desirable in all of dance music. Now he brings his latest
studio album to his own Boys Noize Records, where he drops 15 new tracks that stretch across electro, house, techno, pop, and ambient. The majority of the tracklist sticks to his typical format of face-melting club sounds, though tracks like Love & Validation, and Ride Or Die bring some not-so-subtle pop influences, while Act 9 features an OST-esque ambient soundscape. High points for us come in the form of the basslines on Girl Crush and Xpress Yourself, the broken drum rhythms on IU, and the breakdown of Nude. It might not be an album that brings anything overly spectacular or refreshingly new, but it’s a solid body of work from one of the all time greats. Enjoy it!
Where to start:
