After more than two and a half decades of service to the music industry, Miami’s own Danny Daze has finally given us his debut album. The 19-track record, titled ::BLUE::, is everything you’d expect from him and then some, venturing through the interconnected realms of IDM, electro, acid, and house. Coming via his own Omnidisc imprint, the project invites some of the labels previous alumni along to contribute, with Deroboter, Nick Leon, Jonny From Space, and Push Button Objects all
making their way onto the tracklist. It’s a vibrant and expertly crafted melting pot of sound, highlighting everything club music fans have come to love about the American producer, from the well measured synth textures to the intricate and creative drum rhythms, it holds your attention from track 1 right through to the end. Alongside being available as a standard long player, ::BLUE:: was also mastered for Dolby Atmos and has been performed by Danny as a live performance in a planetarium, a feat which is equally as impressive as it is rare.
Where to start:
Exosphere: Drone-like pad sounds and smoothly filtered drum hits
Drowning Again: Arpeggiating melodies meet modulated bass tones
Fizmo: Elastic synth textures and broken drum rhythms come together
