Ellen Allien has become an iconic figure for German dance music throughout the past twenty years, her BPitch Control imprint which she launched in 1999, has released the sounds of Dillon, Modeselektor, Joy Wellboy and Paul Kalkbrenner to massive success. As a DJ she has also set the bar high, playing to most of the worlds top dancefloors, and currently hosts regular parties at Berlin’s Griessmuehle with her ‘We Are Not Alone’ brand. Alongside the seminal BPitch imprint, this year saw Allien
launch her brand new UFO Inc. label with its inaugural release coming as her own two-track UFO EP. She says the new label is “an incubator for rough, raw techno”. UFO Inc. is by no means signalling of abandonment of BPitch, as last week her eighth solo album, Alientronic, dropped on the label. The 8-track record wanders through the spacey landscapes of tightly programmed electro and face-melting techno sounds and was recorded during Berlin’s freezing 2018 winter.
Where to start:
‘Stimulation’ – An electro gem that closes out the album
‘MDMA’ – Flawless drum programming and spacey synth pads
‘Bowie In Harmony’ – Thumping kick drums dance between dripping acid sounds
