French artist Fakear follows up his 2023 released ‘Talisman’ LP with his fifth career studio album, ‘Hypertalisman’. The nine-track long player includes one credited feature from KAVYA on the closing track ‘Underwater’ – and welcomes his return to French imprint Nowadays Records. Across the 34 minute run time, we’re treated to a melting pot of electronica, organic house, jungle, downtempo, and house. The project combines a fluid & harmonising blend of synth melody and
heavily processed vocal work, alongside a varied spread of different basslines, from the more elastic low end of ‘Healing’, to the rough and sustained bass on ‘Training Lesson’. There’s a solid measure of Eastern sway at the core of the soundscape too, with tracks like ‘Inner Forest’, ‘Prism’, and ‘Elysium’ bringing Asian influences.
Where to start:
Nova: Vibrant basslines give way to colourful melodies and vocal work
Healing: Bouncy house cut that brings subtle Asian influences
Training Lesson: Flawless percussive rhythms and gritty low end rumbles
