Leeds native Hot Since 82 has spent the past few years developing himself into one of the most prominent names in the British music scene. Since his early days of releasing on Moda Black, he’s went on to drop tracks with labels like Truesoul, Circus Recordings and Saved Records, and his own Knee Deep In Sound imprint has been responsible for releases from other heavy hitters such as Denney, Jimpster and Darius Syrossian. The latest record to come from his UK studio arrives in the form of his 13-track
Recovery LP, which follows on from his previous two albums, 2013’s Little Black Book and 2019’s 8-track. The album stays true to Hot Since 82’s core sound, a hybrid mix of deep and melodic tech house, while also venturing into the world of drum&bass on the Rudimental featured Be Strong, as well as some subtle disco influences with Naboo and Want You, the latter of which also providing a rustic, classic house flavour. Rudimental aren’t the only feature worth looking at either, with Body Control bringing contributions from both Jamies Jones and Boy George, and other tracks including Temple, Liz Cass, Miss Kitten and Ed Graves on the credits.
Where to start:
Body Control – Boy George and Jamie Jones on the same record
Naboo – Bouncy and groove-filled house anthem
Be Strong – House meets drum&bass with silky acid in the middle
