Birmingham native Low Steppa has been a standout talent amongst British house music, and one of the most respected DJs to come from his hometown. Tracks from the Low Steppa studio have found themselves on labels like Defected, Toolroom, Cr2 and Ultra Music, and his own Simma Black imprint has given way to productions from Todd Terry, Fred Falke, Kideko and Vanilla Ace amongst a long list of others. Now following the 2015 release of his debut album Troubles, Low Steppa delivers his
sophomore offering, the 14-track Boiling Point LP. The album features vocal contributions from Reigns, Stevie Neale, Mica Paris, Kelli-Leigh and Olivia Sebastianelli, and comes via Armada Music’s Armada Deep sub-label. Besides the first and last inclusions being short and sweet, interlude-esque fillers, the majority of the tracklist on this one brings plenty of well produced, ready to play house anthems. From the deep and colourful Bring Me Up and Wanna Show You, to the slightly more chunky, club-focused Sunshine and Collecting Dust, house heads will enjoy this one from start to finish. And anyone keen on 90’s inspired vocals or uplifting piano chords will find themselves with more than enough to go around. It also includes a revamped edit of Low Steppa’s Heard It All Before, which previously came out on Armada Deep back in 2018.
Where to start:
‘Heaven’ – Throwback house anthem with big keys and vocals
‘Keep You In The Dark’ – Rhythmic percussion and a laidback topline
‘Weekend Love’ – Radio friendly summertime house banger
