Growing up surrounded by a father who was a DJ and a grandfather who sang and played guitar, it was only natural that Italian artist Marco Faraone follow suit and pursue a career in music. Fast forward a couple of years and Marco Faraone is a leading name in techno, with past releases including tracks on Truesoul, Suara, Drumcode and his own UNCAGE imprint. His most recent outing saw him make a return to one of our favourite labels, Radio Slave’s Rekids, a label that alongside many
emerging artists has brought us music from the likes of Nina Kraviz, Peggy Gou, Len Faki and Laurent Garnier. The release brings Marco’s second career long player, a 10-tracker titled No Filter which crosses the line between experimental, ambient soundscapes and raw, back to basics club techno. Complete with pounding kick drums, snapping clap and hihats rhythms, crunchy lo-fi percussive samples and fluttering dub sounds, No Filter is the crossover sound we didn’t know we needed, but one we will be enjoying time and time again for years to come. In his own words, Marco describes the project – “No Filter represents my passion and love for music in its purest form without compromises created by my inner child to take the listener on an abstract journey of sophisticated yet accessible soundscapes that inspire connection, reflection and interpretation.”
Where to start:
