Multiple tracks with several million plays on Spotify and official remixes for artists like Nile Rodgers and CHVRCHES are just a glimpse of the success Brooklyn-born producer Moon Boots has achieved in the past few years. His most recent effort saw him return to Above & Beyond and James Grant’s Anjunadeep imprint for his second long player, Bimini Road. The record follows his debut album First Landing which arrived on the same label back in 2017. Similar to First Landing, Bimini Road
also brings us a bunch of impressive features, with vocal work coming from Steven Klavier, KONA, Nic Hanson, Niia, Gary Saxby, Little Boots, Black Gatsby and Kaleena Zanders. From a glance it’s a pop-tinged house album with a well polished production quality, similar to what you might expect from Disclosure or Bondax, but a look at the finer details quickly reveals authentic house drums on tracks like Gary’s House, a stripped back romancer on Jumpin’ and proper oldschool influences with Juanita. Anjunadeep has delivered many influential records over the years, and Bimini Road should be no different.
Where to start:
‘Clear’ – Broken drum beats, infectious vocals and filtered synth chords
‘Juanita’ – Oldschool vibes with a modern era production quality
‘So Precious’ – Massive basslines, clean cut drums and a smooth topline from KONA
