UK bass music continues to go from strength to strength as creative talents such as Leeds-born musician and vocalist Nia Archives sets the pace with her debut artist album ‘Silence Is Loud’. Known primarily for her breakthrough single ‘Baianá’ and follow up track ‘Forbidden Feelingz’ (which is included on the album), the now London-based artist brings what will certainly be one of 2024’s top long players. The 13-track record pulls in all of the typical ingredients a bass record might possess,
with drum & bass, jungle, electronic, and breakbeat playfully grappling for a place at the front, accompanied by her own colourful top lines. It comes via Nia’s own HIJINXX imprint, which so far has released only her own music.
Where to start:
Forbidden Feelingz: Sustained basslines and a big jungle influence
Crowded Roomz: Polished breaks and a catchy top line
Killjoy: Raw and energetic UK bass track
