Bristolian production talent Otik consolidates everything we know and love about UK bass music with the recent release of his inaugural studio album, ‘Cosmosis’. Produced over the past couple of years, the project see’s the now London-based artist bring together garage, breaks, and jungle with a sonic palette that stretches 11 tracks in total. From the mammoth drum hits and untiring breakbeats, to the potent low end bass tones and carefully balanced melodies, Otik’s sound is one
completely void of gimmicky sampled hooks and cheap drops, instead relying on texture, rhythm, and production quality to hold your attention. The record comes via Martyn’s 3024 imprint, and finds Otik join a roster of artists which includes heavy hitters such as Om Unit, Redshape, and Jacques Greene, while adding to his own, already heavily-decorated catalogue.
Where to start:
Cosmosis: Energetic breaks and dense low end rumbles
Odyssey: Syncopated pluck melodies dance between raw breaks
Astra: Gritty drum work meets powerful sustained basslines
