Taking its name from the system used by school teachers to keep children safe while on a field trip, Sabo’s new Buddy System LP employees a similar thought process, though with the goal of producing thoughtful and unique house music. The 8-track record finds the American producer collaborate with a different artist on each track, with the full list of features including names such as Dandara, Hot Oasis, Namito, UNER, Noema, SidiRum and Metrika. Diving into this one you will quickly find an
organically grown, oriental-esque blend of deep and progressive house sounds, with plenty of percussive rhythms and uplifting synth melodies to go around. It’s a groovy and melodic album that hypnotises the listener, like a distant mirage in a sun-beaten desert landscape. The global reach of the collaborators delivers a diverse and multi-cultured end product, resulting in a project that no single artist could produce themselves.
