German-born artist Tensnake has seen an incredible run of success over his career as a DJ, remixer and producer. Remixing names like Dua Lipa and London Grammar, collaborating with Nile Rodgers, and releasing his music with labels like Running Back, Toolroom and Defected. Now, following the 2014 release of his debut album Glow, Tensnake returns to album mode for the release of his second studio long player, L.A. The 14 track, 53 minute record is a disco-infused house project that on
some tracks leans quite heavily into the realms of pop, mainly thanks to the combination of emotive chord progressions and uplifting vocal melodies. Though other areas on the tracklist do deliver a club-focused sound that will fill the room once the lights go out, the majority of this one was built for the radio. Features include work from Boy Matthews, Nazzereene, Cara Melin, Swedish Red Elephant, Chenai, Daramola, HEXE and Fiora, the latter also being a big contributor to Tensnake’s previous Glow.
Where to start:
Automatic – Deep and groovy house with a massive vocal hook
Adams Hill – Strong percussive grooves and rhythmic synth programming
Rules – Tightly packed club cut with big chord melodies
