One of Greece’s top club exports adds another great label to his already-impressive catalogue of previous releases, as CJ Jeff debuts on Solardo’s Sola imprint.
Previously the Greek-artist has put music out with the likes of Kling Klong, Circus Recordings, and 8Bit – among others. His inaugural outing with Sola finds him bring his latest single ‘Around’.
We had a brief chat with him to talk about the newly released record, how he approaches signing music to record labels, and more. Read the full interview with CJ Jeff below.
Hey CJ – how have things been for you over in Greece recently?
I really can’t complain as I’m in the game for over 25 years and can still do what I love the most. Traveling and playing music.
You just released your new single ‘Around’ on Solardo’s Sola imprint, what can people expect to hear from you on this one?
On my last releases I really loved working with singers for original vocal tracks that you can easily listen to in a club, but at the same time your favourite Spotify playlist too. That combination excites me.
And it features vocals from your fellow Greek-native Georges Perin, how did you guys come to work together?
Perin is a jazz singer that has an amazing voice, he can go from soul to rock and the first time I heard him I was wowed. That’s an interesting voice to work with. He proved that I was right, we make a beautiful team.
In the past you’ve also released your music on labels like Circus Recordings, 8Bit, and Kling Klong, what do you typically look for in a potential label partnership?
Targeting labels which first of all I respect as a DJ and second that they last over time, that means quality to me. That makes me proud to be part of their family.
And which other labels might we see you release on in the coming months?
Can’t say. Lol.
What are your usual go-to sources of inspiration when you’re heading into the studio?
Creativity comes from “now”, from what I feel, what I hear, what I see, what I read, NOW. That’s my inspiration.
