Iconic musicians Gorillaz are still hot off the press with their latest studio album ‘The Now Now’, so who better to team up with one of the most successful watchmakers in the game for a new anniversary edition of a wristwatch classic.
Having already secured its place among wristwatch royalty, Casio’s G-Shock series marks its 35th anniversary this year, and are teasing a new Gorillaz collaboration to mark the event.
The collab will include two limited edition models of the G-Shock 5600 Model, designed with the animated band members in mind, the watch features a 2 year battery life, a stopwatch, an alarm, a countdown timer, 200 meter water resistance and is shock proof.
Casio and the Gorillaz have also released the first of three animated clips that seem to tell a story of the two brands coming together. Receiving a message from Mr. Ibe (the original engineer behind the G-Shock series), we find 2D, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel being asked to venture from their abode in Tokyo, Japan to the distance ‘Galaxy M101’.
The two G-Shock models will arrive some time this Winter, though we will hopefully get another episode of the animated story before then. Watch the first clip in full below.
