Berlin-based techno DJ & producer Andre Pillar is well on his way to establishing himself as a mainstay amongst the next generation of his genres best studio talents.
Despite only making his debut as a producer at the beginning of 2022, his club-focused productions have already made their way onto record labels such as Immersion, Reload Records, and most recently, Throne Room Records.
We welcome him to our Inflyte Radar series, where we spoke about his new ‘Error 404’ EP for Throne Room, which other labels we might see him on soon, and what else he has going on right now. Read the full discussion below.
Hey Andre, how are things with you in Berlin at the moment?
Hi! Right now it’s good in Berlin, the weather is good, and I’m just back from holiday.
And you’re originally from Bonn, Germany, was the choice to relocate to Berlin a career-focused decision?
That’s right, I was born and raised in Bonn. The decision to move to Berlin was rather spontaneous. I had the opportunity to get a job here and then it was clear to me, go to Berlin.
You recently released your new ‘Error 404’ EP with UK label Throne Room Records, how would you describe the two tracks in your own words?
I always struggle with describing something, I would say it’s a mix of driving techno and underground styles and I’m really happy with the result.
And was there no talk of having remixes on this one?
I talked to Rohan about it and in the end we decided not to do a remix.
In the past you’ve also released music with labels like Immersion and Riot, what’s one of the main things you look for when considering a label for a release?
So I haven’t released on Riot yet, my EP with them will be out on June 23rd. The other releases on Immersion came more by chance, because I know The Reactivitz and had asked him about a release. When I look for labels, I usually don’t decide until I’ve finished a project, because every EP or track is different.
And which other labels might we see you on soon?
My latest EP is out today on Reload Records. I’m very happy about it because it’s one of my favourite labels. I’m also currently working on a collaboration with Throne Room boss Oliver Carloni, and of course I hope to release an EP on Legend someday.
