Inflyte Radar: Angioma

Emerging French talent Angioma will make his debut on Anja Schneider’s Sous Music imprint, releasing his four-track ‘Illumination’ EP, which alongside two originals offers remixes from Belfast producer Ejeca, and Anja herself.

Previously his tracks have landed on Christian Smith’s Tronic and his own label Room Trax, and his hometown presence in Barcelona continues to exceed expectations thanks to sets from top selectors such as Eats Everything and Monki on his live broadcasts at Room FM.

This months Inflyte Radar finds us talk with him about the forthcoming EP, what we can expect from Room Trax in the coming months, and what other labels he plans to release on soon. Get the full discussion below.

Hey Angioma, you’re on our Inflyte Radar this month! How are things at the moment?

Hey Guys! Thanks for having me on the Radar series. Well, Winter is keeping me in the studio now, which I do not mind, as he helps me to get all my new music done and look towards all the projects in 2020. Life is good!

Your new Illumination EP is coming out soon on Anja Schneider’s Sous Music, how did this one come to be?

I have always been inspired by Anja’s music, for a long time. She often comes to play in Barcelona and I always make sure to head out to her shows. We also booked her a while back to come and do the radio station I run in Barcelona called Room FM, which is a live stream. That was a dream come true! I managed to chat to her then, and get to know each other. After we swapped details and that’s when I started to send her some music.

And it includes remixes from Anja and Ejeca, how did you react when you first got the edits back?

It’s crazy that both of them are remixing my tracks! When I first heard each edit, I was so happy, and a kind of weird happy sensation of disbelief came over me. Both edits take each original into its own form, which I love. It really rounds off the EP perfectly. This is my first release with Anja, and I think hopefully it will be a strong one for my future career.

Other labels in your catalogue include Tronic and your own imprint Room Trax, will you be adding anymore to the list in the coming months?

I have a few cool releases coming up, one on UK artist Frazi:er’s label called Elementra. Also I am releasing on Tronic for a third time and working on an EP for Markantonio’s label AnalyticTrail. I am busy preparing a project of my own on Room Trax for 2020, which will be a full VA. Lots to keep me busy this winter!

And tell us more about Room Trax? Who might we be seeing on there going forward?

We have some really cool talent on the label. The next release is from an artist based here in Barcelona also, called Blanka, she has been growing fast in the local scene, and we like to highlight artists like this with Room Trax. She has also been on the stream! Frazi:er, Grittrip and more will be on the VA, but that’s all I can say for now – still a lot of work to be done!

You also head up Room FM, a live streaming platform broadcasting out of Barcelona, what inspired you to the idea?

My best friend started Room streams in small venues all over the city, from bars and coffee shops. When I saw it, I decided that it would be a great concept to create a brand from this idea, and together find a permanent place to have the streams. The venue we use is on the top of the hill way up in the mountains, and I think that why we have become so well recognised, there is nowhere else like it right now. We started the streams ourselves, then local artists from Barcelona joined, and then it grew from there. Every time we knew some artists were playing clubs in town, and of course during Sonar, we got in touch – then we grew from there! It’s crazy how many amazing artists we have had on the show. It was all very natural and organic, and its worked out. We are very happy!

You’ve streamed sets from Ilario Alicante, Cassy, Eats Everything and Monki, how do you decide on who plays a show?

Blanka and I both work at Room and we select artists together for their music and also people we have a connection with. There is always a spot for someone who’s music we love! We try to have one big artist with some more underground and locals opening, so get a good crowd in and also to help those smaller artists get some key support and recognition.

Thanks a lot for taking some time out to chat, let’s wrap things up with your favourite track to play out right now?

Thank you for chatting to me. Was fun. Ahhh that’s a good question, but I would have to say ‘Wave A Wand’ by Jelly3000.

Angioma’s Illumination EP is out November 29th on Sous Music.
