Our Inflyte Radar shines a spotlight on emerging artists who we believe are destined for big things. This month we caught up with young Italian talents Richey V and Simone Zino who recently dropped an EP on Joseph Capriati’s Redimension label.

The label has previously featured music from well-known artists including Adam Beyer, Fur Coat, Anthony Parasole and the label boss himself.

Richey V and Simone Zino caught our attention with the EP, so we decided to catch up with them to find out a little bit more about the release and their background in music.

Hi guys, let’s start with a little background info on how you guys know each other?

We met four years ago at a night in Milano called VOID which is run by Richey V. A mutual friend introduced us as he thought we had lots in common and wanted us to meet. We hit it off immediately and soon started working together DJ’ing at VOID which also led to us collaborating in the studio.

Had you worked together on other releases before your new EP on Redimension, and do you also have any solo projects?

We have always worked on solo projects and this is the first time we worked together and it has been a wonderful experience for us. Often we release on our own label Ratis, but have also done several solo EP’s working with other labels.

So about your Redimension release, as I see the label has previously released tracks from some pretty impressive names such as Fur Coat, Adam Beyer, Joseph Capriati and Anthony Parasole. How would you describe your EP?

This EP was created for the dance floor, and it keeps a refined sound that we spent lots of time working on to focus on the fine details. The entire EP is very balanced because it includes different styles ranging from the raw and heavy ‘Action’ to the hypnotic atmosphere of ‘Hysteria’. We love each of the five tracks as every track has been conceived for different parts of a DJ set.

I’ve got to say I really enjoyed listening to it, and thought it had a cool peak time techno vibe. What equipment did you use to make the tracks?

All tracks are made entirely digitally, as we like the control software gives us. It means we can work on a sound then save it to listen back the next day with fresh ears without having to worry about losing the settings. This means at any point in a track we can go back to every fine detail and make things perfect.

Could you tell me about your relationship with Redimension, and how you made contact with the label?

Redimension is run by Joseph Capriati who we met and became friends with. Besides being a great artist, he turned out to be a wonderful person, and after he played some of our old tracks he contacted us to propose making some music for his label. We were happy to accept and we’ll always be grateful to Joseph for believing in us, as we are truly honoured to have his support.

And the release is also being pressed to vinyl, is this your first time releasing in this format, and do you ever play vinyl in your DJ sets?

This is our first time releasing on vinyl and we are really proud about that. Years ago we used to play vinyl, but now we play mainly with CDJ’s and external effects.

Talking of your DJ sets, I understand you both DJ regularly in Italy where you are based. Could you tell us a bit about the local scene and any events where you have residencies?

Milan where we are based has a good scene compared to that of past years, and we see positive vibes growing around the city. For the past five years we usually play at Rocket club where we have our weekly party called VOID, and once a month we do a big party at Amnesia Milano.

What’s next after this release, do have any other EP’s or joint projects lined up for the summer?

We are working on new music of course, as we are regularly making new stuff. There will be some cool gigs between Milan and southern Italy, and have some important DJ sets for this summer that we can’t wait to do!

Richey V & Simone Zino’s Hysteria EP is out now on Redimension.
