Interview: Weekend Heroes

Melodic house production duo Weekend Heroes already boast previous outings on record labels such as Dreaming Awake, Black Rose Recordings, and Anjunabeats.

Last month they also added Afterlife to that list, with the release of ‘No One’s Coming’ and ‘Talk To Me’, which are collaborative tracks between themselves and Argy.

We spoke to the pair about their new release, how they typically approach a collaboration, and which other record labels we can expect to hear them on soon. Read the full interview below.

How has 2024 been for you both so far?

Hello! It’s only started but so far it’s been good for our music and complicated in our country, situation wise. Life.

You recently dropped two new collaborations with Argy, how did the tracks come together in the studio?

The track ‘No One’s Coming’ started from a vocal idea and had been built around that, while ‘Talk To Me’ was created from a fat kick and bassline combination that we came up with.

What are some of the main differences between a collaboration and a solo project?

That in collaboration projects there are more opinions, for both good and bad, so to make everyone happy it takes more time and effort, but also the result can be more sophisticated.

Alongside Afterlife, you’ve also released music on Anjunabeats and Dreaming Awake, how do you decide which record labels to send music to?

It depends on the sound of the track that we want to sign at and on what we feel is right for us in that moment. Getting your music signed can be a long and complicated process, which sometimes takes months to complete.

And which other labels might we see you on in the near future?

We can tell you that we will release on Einmusika, Black Rose, and our own Escape Gravity label this year.

Is there anything else you want to talk about before we go?

We just want to wish that everyone has a good and satisfying life, take care of your loved ones, and enjoy the day by day.
