Esteemed Dutch pair Tinlicker continue to merge the worlds of deep, melodic house and progressive trance in beautiful fashion. The duo made a return to British indie label Anjunadeep at the end of last month for the release of their third studio album, ‘In Another Lifetime’. With 12 tracks of intensely energetic, colourfully harmonising, and well-crafted club sounds, the project delivers one of the best albums of the 2022 year so far. Produced during the different periods of lockdown in 2020 and 2021,
the album provides an outlet for Tinlicker to channel their various emotions from that time. “These last two years saw the creation of a parallel universe in which human beings had to reinvent themselves whether they wanted to or not. We experienced a lot of lows in this process, but also beautiful highs – in some moments it felt like everything was about to slip through our fingers, while other days the process brought a lot of peace.” While staying within a sound that’s distinctly Tinlicker, the different tracks find their way into a wide-reaching spectrum of areas of house, trance, progressive, breakbeat, and big beat. It features a number of excellent top lines from Nathan Nicholson, Jamie Irrepressible, Roos Jonker, and Hero Baldwin, and a mix of uplifting melodies and huge basslines which together will likely find their way onto quite a few festival stages this summer. There’s one or two tracks that we would probably take a pass on after a few laps of the album, though it comes down to personal preference rather than any fault in the production.
