Iconic house music vocalist and South Carolina native Kathy Brown has provided soulful and uplifting top lines to productions from artists such as David Morales, Soul Central, and Major Boys across the past three decades, seeing success both in the international club scene and on mainstream music charts in the US and UK. The end of 2023 unfortunately brought devastating news for Kathy and her family, as she received a diagnoses of stage 4 cancer, which has now sadly spread to her brain.
Currently in treatment, she faces an extremely difficult road ahead both physically and financially, and Kathy’s daughter, Chanta Joyner, has created a GoFundMe campaign to aid with the burden the family will soon face. The campaign has already received support from over 500 people, and London-based record label Revival have generously pledged to match up to $10,000 in donations. Wh0, Mark Knight, and James Hurr have also released a new collaborative single which features vocal work from Kathy.
