Five Tracks: Gruuve

A native of Argentina, but now based in Barcelona, Spain, DJ & producer Gruuve continues to develop into a mainstay amongst European club talents.

Previously his productions have landed on labels such as Glasgow Underground and MUSE, as well as his own imprint, MUUV – where Ozgur Uzar, Enrico Caruso, and Del Fonda have also released music.

We welcome the Argentine artist to our Five Tracks series this week, to find him tap into his vast arsenal of sonic knowledge to share some of his favourite house jams, including records from Franky Rizardo, Kirik, and James View.

Kirik – Up Up
Label: Ball Park

“This is definitely one of the best discoveries of 2023 for me. To be honest I didn’t know Kirik and now I’m fascinated with his tracks. ‘Up Up’ is all I ask when searching for a groovy track. Great percussive elements, a good trip, and awesome drops. Keep an eye on this artist!”

Close To Custom – Like Thiszz
Label: NATURE

“I found this track not so long ago and I can assure you that it is going to work 100% of the time on the dancefloor. The addictive vocal plus that deep and fat bassline makes this record a banger for any set.”

Peggy Gou – (It Goes Like) Nanana
Label: XL Recordings

“It’s impossible not to put this one on the list. As a house lover this track has what every producer aims to achieve. I think we all agree that when this record is playing, we all start to feel a lot better. And this could be listening to this one on your headphones heading home or at a festival.”

Sam Curran – Kashi Riddim (James View Remix)
Label: Till? Records

“To be honest, I found James View’s music only a few months ago and I’m loving it. Shoutout to him! This particular record has all the elements that I seek when selecting music for my sets; good rhythm, great energy, and explosive breakdowns. The fact that it works every time I play it is insane, I’ve tested it at peak times and everyone goes nuts. For me is the definitive heater of the year!”

Franky Rizardo – Whatchagonnado
Label: LTF Records

“Franky Rizardo has been a huge inspiration for me recently. The energy he puts into his sets and productions are always on point. I think this track is his best creation, pure groove and some classic house elements. Love it!”
