The story of Ben Gold’s career has been one drenched in success, from releasing on Coldharbour and Flashover, to collaborating with the likes of Andrew Rayel and Gareth Emery, to remixing every A-lister in the trance game, the London-born producer has been on strong form for many years. Now based out in Amsterdam, Gold returns to the Armin co-founded imprint of Armada Music to release his latest studio album, Rest Of Our Lives. At 10 tracks in total, the project welcomes a hybrid sound of
uplifting and progressive trance, with a bunch of heart warming top line vocals from names like Plumb, Benjamin Duchenne, and Yasmin Jane. The drums checks all the boxes as far as energising trance music goes, but it’s the melodic side of things where the album really shines. Euphoric arpeggios, airy synth pads, and filtered chord melodies shine through from start to finish, and play perfectly against the softened touch of the accompanying vocal work. It provides a healthy balance between typical uplifting trance and other sub genres in the same area, ‘Llévame A La Playa’ delivers a guitar heavy mix of balearic and progressive, ‘Ultrasonic’ features an intro that’s straight up orchestral before bursting into a fast-paced trance melody, and ‘Follow The King’ goes heavy on the tech-trance style basslines, with an Irish-language vocal to match. Speaking about the project, Ben added “As life evolved, the album evolved with it, but it always retained its melodic, uplifting and energetic identity. I hope that anyone who listens to this album will feel that, whether they are old or new fans.”
