Spanish artist Tibi Dabo takes a major step up in his journey as a creator, as he drops his debut studio album ‘Vista’ with Crosstown Rebels, the long player adds 9 new productions to his sonic arsenal, and marks 2023 as arguably his biggest year to date. Having released on imprints like Last Night On Earth and Rebellion, as well as a long string of EP releases with Crosstown Rebels – a label who’s roster includes Red Axes, Moullinex, and Catz ’n Dogz – Tibi Dabo has been among big names since the
very beginning of his career, and the release of ‘Vista’ further cements his right to be there. Mixing deep house and dance, alongside some subtle hints of techno and progressive, the now Berlin-based artist manages to deliver a quality cut of music, and while the record is primarily built for the dancefloor, it does a superb job of soundtracking pretty much any listening environment you put it in. It’s completely free of any flash in the pan features or gimmicky hooks, instead relying on well measured drum grooves and just the right amount of melodic glaze to do the job.
Where to start:
Licht: Big drum hits paired with filtered synth melodies
Mundo: Densely packed club sound with warm percussion
Triple Frontier: Highly energetic blend of melodies and basslines
