ROTW: ABSOLUTE. - Wonderland

Skint Records have been responsible for some mammoth releases in the past, with their catalogue boasting names like Fatboy Slim, Roisin Murphy, Theo Kottis, and Paul Woolford. More recently the Brighton & Hove imprint welcomed London’s ABSOLUTE. to the label for the release of his debut album, Wonderland. The project brings an 18-long tracklist, though with six being interludes that combine at just 70 seconds, it would be more accurate to say it’s a 12-track album. With a pretty broad palette of

sounds, this one touches everything from house and techno, to disco and rave, as well as a few subtle hints of garage, electro, and breakbeat in places. For anyone that finds themselves enjoying heavy, dense, low end rumbles, strong and forceful kick drums, or highly infectious and equally uplifting synth or piano melodies, then this one will be a perfect addition to your music collection. Commenting on the album, ABSOLUTE. said “I was writing music that helped me feel certain ways, freedom and connected-ness. Even if just for a short time, to feel transported to 90’s UK raves or New York’s underground gave me some life, and I hope it does for you too.” Below you can stream the record in full, and also find our recommended starting points, previous highlights from ABSOLUTE., and some similar albums that you might like if you’re feeling this one.
